$10,000 Goal

THE DENVER TOOL LIBRARY IS HOPING TO RAISE $10,000 IN 2024 FOR OUR SHARE THE TOOLS FUND

People need tools to keep their homes comfortable, functional, and safe. Organizations need tools for community workdays, facility upkeep, and other mission-driven activities. The Share the Tools Fund gets tools in the hands of the people & organizations who need them most.

HOW DOES THE SHARE THE TOOLS FUND WORK?

Every dollar you donate goes into a fund. This money pays for the tools, space, and staff needed to ensure that underrepresented individuals and organizations creating positive change have access to our programs. As long as there is money in the fund, we are able to provide free/heavily-discounted Tool Library Memberships, Classes, and Open Workshop Hours.

YOUR MONEY GOES DIRECTLY TO…

  1. Increasing the availability of financial assistance for individuals & organizations
  2. Adding new, high-demand tools for you to borrow
  3. Repairing and maintaining our 6,000+ available public-use tools
  4. Taking care of our staff so they can take care of our community

Giving Activity

Mission

The Denver Tool Library provides affordable access to tools, skills, and work space for home improvement, artistic expression, community building, and more.

Join us to save money, reduce waste, and build community.

Background Statement

1) ACCESS: Tools are expensive, take up space, and may only get used once or twice per year. By pooling our resources together we create a much greater and more affordable variety of items for everyone.

2) SUSTAINABILITY: The process it takes to manufacture the items we buy often leaves a significant negative impact. By building the things we need and repairing them (rather than buying new), and sharing tools instead of duplicating them in every house, we reduce this negative impact on our planet.

3) COMMUNITY: Our digital age offers unlimited potential for connection but at times leave us isolated or out of touch with our physical bodies. Community oriented spaces like the DTL connect us directly to people who have similar passions to scheme, learn, and tinker, while we experience the satisfaction of working with our hands.

4) EDUCATION: Whether it's through classes, resource recommendations, or shared knowledge from staff and volunteers, every person can learn how to use the tools they need to express themselves and accomplish their projects.
