Testimonials for Denver Brass:

“Denver Brass sounds incredible! Great programs, and consummate recordings. This collection and unique mix of musicians produces a fantastic sense of ensemble and a wide variety of tone colors. Denver Brass is dedicated to the art of brass playing now and into the future.” - Joseph Alessi, Principal Trombone, New York Philharmonic

"The Denver Brass produces music and live performances of superior quality. They are a cultural gem for the greater Denver area with a growing regional, national, and international reputation. They have excellent management skills in addition to the high quality of their artistry. They are deliberate in their efforts to reach out to under-served populations and to work with youth. They are a major success story attributable to the partnership of sound management, excellent artistic ability, and stable support." - The Denver Foundation

"Our family is young. Val and I want our children to grow by embracing the artistry of music and the joy of performance. Denver Brass concerts are, by far, the most engaging to take them to. They are welcome to join the conga line, toss the beach balls, and to be a part of the rhythm section with joyous clapping to music from varied traditions performed by consummate musicians. Steel drums, bagpipes, step dancers, children's chorales, and always a tuba or two make for flights of fancy piloted by meticulous talent and artistry. There is simply no better place to prove that going to see and hear the finest talent does not have to come with a requirement to be always a master of etiquette." - Mark Rogers, University of Denver Architect

"The Denver Brass is simply exceptional. Their talent and professionalism along with the fun they have performing keeps me coming back for more!"

"They are a fantastic piece of our community. We brought a group of trumpet students to see them and you cannot believe the inspiration they created in these young people. It is clear that they enjoy what they do. I'd buy tickets to the whole season if I were you."

"The Denver Brass deserves to top the 'A List' as one of the best things about Denver. The musicians are the best in town, the concert program is perpetually amazing, and the CDs are a must-have for any collection. The Denver Brass provides a concert experience of a quality that one would be hard-pressed to find in even the largest cities in America. We are extremely lucky to have this amazing group headquartered here in Denver!"

Testimonials for Denver Brass Livestream Concerts:

"Thanks for continuing to make your wonderful concerts available to us during this time! We certainly appreciate each and every one of your talented musicians and the musical selections you offer" - Hal & Carol Simpson

"All the concerts [online] have been awesome! So nice to see Alan Hood again- and all of you! Thank you for everything!" - Jim & Barbara Grob

"The concert last week was once again excellent. The quality of both the audio and video were of very high quality as was the total performance." - Bill Anderson

Mission

The Denver Brass brings industry-leading brass programming, music development, professional growth, and inclusive outreach to multi-generational populations of the Denver region and beyond.

Background Statement

Kathleen and Charles Brantigan formed the Denver Brass in 1981 with some of Denver's finest professional brass musicians with a shared vision: an all-new chamber ensemble that would be at the forefront of brass performance, entertainment, original works, education, and community service. One of the few professional large chamber brass ensembles in the world, the Denver Brass sets itself apart with its extraordinary sound, original repertoire, and engaging concert productions. Strongly-themed shows feature a unique, engaging social and sound experience with guest hosts, soloists, dancers, and lighting and multimedia techniques.

Performing just ten services in its first season, today the Denver Brass performs more than 100 services annually and has commissioned close to 1,000 new arrangements and original pieces over the past four decades. To support the growth and health of its community, the organization has developed numerous arts education and community outreach programs spanning a wide range of needs that reach every corner of our community. More than 40,000 people hear Denver Brass ensembles perform live annually, making it one of the top twenty-five cultural attractions in Denver. The ensemble has produced nearly forty recordings, DVDs, and music videos. The Denver Brass is a recipient of the 2008 Mayor's Award for Excellence in the Arts.
