Denver Writes

A nonprofit organization

Denver Writes provides writing programs for kids 7 - 17. We offer monthly writing workshops, summer camps, and year long afternoon writing clubs. Founded in 2007 as Metro Denver Promotion of Letters, we officially became Denver Writes in 2014. Until 2018 we had our own writing center located on South Broadway, BackSpace, and now partner with local businesses, schools, libraries and non-profits to host our events.  We’ve held events with local bookstores including Tattered Cover, BookBar, Second Star to the Right Books, and The Bookies Bookstore. Partnered with Denver and Jeffco Libraries. Created classes and after school programs for Denver, Jeffco, Aurora, and Douglass County Schools. And we’ve partnered with local non-profits and businesses including The Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls, and Toys, Four Mile Park, BookGive, Bike Denver, The Heart and Hand Foundation, The Molly Brown House, Metropolis Coffee, Mutiny Information Cafe, and Casa Bonita.

Mission

Our mission is to provide young writers in the Denver area with a supportive community and creative opportunities to express themselves through writing. We achieve this by offering monthly workshops, intensive and expeditionary summer camps, and exciting special events.
