Our Works

The Diocese of Colorado Springs District Council of the St Vincent de Paul Society has over 100 volunteers who provided nearly 8,000 hours of service in 2022 in Douglas and El Paso Counties. In 2022, our 106 Vincentians visited 2,000 households assisting almost 4,500 family members.   $490,000 was provided to these, our friends and neighbors in need, for financial assistance for rent, utilities and similar life sustaining needs.

Mission

Our District Council is a lay Catholic network of Vincentians, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and, service to, our friends and neighbors in need in Central Colorado. Faithful to the Rule and Statutes and inspired by Blessed Frederic Ozanam, we listen and respond to the cry of the poor to bring the love of Christ to these in social distress. In them, we seek the face of Christ and aspire to help through all possible forms of charity, as best we are able, with love, respect, and joy.

Background Statement

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international organization founded in 1833 comprised of lay members within the Catholic Church for the spiritual edification of its members through direct personal service of the poor. Across the U.S. Vincentians are organized into "conferences" that perform the works of the Society. The Diocese of Colorado Springs District includes eight conferences in Douglas and El Paso Counties.
