* The Durango Cowboy Gathering celebrates and preserves the traditions, history, culture, and spirit of the American West through music, poetry and art. The Gathering provides educational programs and events that connect seniors, children, and the public at large. The Gathering was established as a 501c3 in 1989.
* As part of our mission, invited performers go to local schools and senior care facilities to promote our western heritage. During the year, Gathering volunteers mentor students to write a poem or song, or create a piece of art for our annual contest. The contest winners get to perform at the Gathering with professional performers.
* We are proud of the support we provide to various youth groups and students by offering scholarships and paying a small stipend to contest winners.
