We are a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that relies on financial contributions and food donations from generous members of our community. Without the support of donors and volunteers, the great work we do would not be possible.

The food bank is a staple resource in rural La Plata County and has served clients both deeply rooted in our community, as well as clients who are just starting to discover this wonderful corner of Southwest Colorado. Our mission is to provide enough food to our neighbors so that no one in our community would starve while also being purposeful in not creating dependence.
The Durango Food Bank is La Plata County's emergency food assistance program. It was designed to administer aid to residents in need of food assistance and those facing food insecurity.
We continue to offer such services today. We serve anyone and everyone facing food insecurity or in need of food supplies. Our current work is to provide reactive emergency assistances, which may include emergency responses to COVID-19, situations where an individual's or family's income level puts them above the food assistance qualifying threshold, or where a contributing family member is temporarily unemployed.
We distribute to our county residents two weeks worth of groceries twice a month complete with canned goods, produce (fruits and vegetables), dairy, deli, frozen goods (meat and other freezer section items), bread, and bakery items. Additionally, we offer a Self-Select which allows clients to shop the pantry for specific food choices to suit their individual and family needs.
