Help is unlock $35,000 -- Our largest match challenge ever!

Two generous local donors have pooled their funds and pledged a $35,000 match challenge! This is our largest challenge ever, and we have no doubts that our supporters will step up and give generously to help us unlock this gift.

The Estes Valley Land Trust preserves the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park by conserving open space, incredible scenery and healthy wildlife habitat forever. Every person who lives in or visits the Estes Valley will benefit from your generous support of this mission.

The Land Trust continues to prioritize land conservation in 2024. Earlier this year, the Land Trust permanently preserved 293 acres of open space on a historic camp and retreat center in Allenspark. With this new easement, the Land Trust hit a major milestone by surpassing 10,000 acres of conserved land in and around Estes Park!

Another critical piece of our work is monitoring and defending conservation easements. In 2024, 126 local volunteers monitored over 170 conservation easements to ensure that property owners are complying with easement terms. Volunteers did not reports any major violations this year.

The Land Trust also provides educational opportunities for the Estes community. In 2023, the Land Trust hosted nine unique educational and outreach events, serving a total of 470 community members. EVLT hosts an annual Student Environmental Film Festival in partnership with the school district, and awards scholarships to winning filmmakers. The Land Trust has awarded a total of $24,000 in local scholarships over the last three years.

Mission

The mission of Estes Valley Land Trust is to preserve and protect open space, valleys, wetlands, streams, ranch lands, and wildlife habitat in the Estes Valley and surrounding area. Lands adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park and the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest are of special concern.

Background Statement

EVLT began in 1987 as an all-volunteer organization with an appreciation for the beautiful areas of the Estes Valley and a passion to preserve those areas. For 20 years, dedicated volunteers worked to fulfill this mission with amazing accomplishments.

In 2007 staff were hired to provide administrative leadership, coordinate monitoring on more than 150 conservation easements, fund raise and pursue additional land protection efforts.

The following year, EVLT submitted an application for national accreditation and became part of the first class of 39 accredited land trusts in the country. In 2019, that accreditation status was renewed for a second 5-year period through another rigorous application process.

As EVLT continues to conserve important scenery and habitat, it is making a commitment to serve the future generations in the Estes Valley forever.
