You can help SIS bring much needed Senior Housing to Summit County for the first time!

Our mission is to facilitate the development of housing and care communities for assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing.  We also plan to provide services allowing seniors and adults with disabilities to safely age in place in Summit County.

We are currently in partnership with Summit County to include senior housing in the future Lake Hill workforce housing development.

The BIG NEWS is that the county just released on December 4th their Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for potential Master Developers for Lake Hill.  On the County's website the RFQ includes, but may not be limited to, affordable housing developer partner qualifications related to a potential future Request for Proposals (RFP) for planning, design, development, financing, construction, management, operation and maintenance of deed-restricted affordable housing for the Lake Hill site in Summit County.

A pre-proposal meeting will be held January 7, 2025 with January 14 set as the deadline for submission of Qualifications by interested Developers.

In response, Staying in Summit (SIS) has ramped-up our own pre-development work to be in a position to issue an RFP to our Senior Assisted Living facility potential developers alongside and in conjunction with issuance of the County RFP.

HELP SIS MAKE A  DIFFERENCE FOR OUR SENIORS AND FUTURE GENERATIONS TO COME.

Mission

To facilitate the development of housing and care communities for assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing. We would like to also provide services allowing seniors and adults with disabilities to safely age in place in Summit County.

We are currently working in a partnership with Summit County to make this dream a reality.

Background Statement

Our President, Andy Searls, has been advocating for Senior Housing in Summit County for over 20 years. A devoted team of professionals have joined the effort either as board members or committee members. In 2018 Staying in Summit (SIS) was established as a 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization.

Various land opportunities in Summit County dedicated to Senior Housing have been pursued through the years, but until now SIS has not been able to get a commitment for land.

A Needs Assessment study in 2021 led to commitment by Summit County government in September 2023 to the include Senior Housing in the Lake Hill Workforce Housing Development. Now SIS is advancing the process to raise funds to cover the costs in the pre-development phase of this project.

SIS has applied for grants with local foundations for essential funding of pre-development costs. However, your support is an integral requirement to make senior housing a reality in Summit County.
