Your donation gives kids like Luke a better life! Luke had Cerebral Palsy and with the support of the water Luke was able to move without pain. He loved splashing, throwing a ball, or just floating and kicking. His whole face would light up with the biggest smile! I had the honor of working with Luke for over 10 years and every visit was magical for both of us. Warm water is the best tool to help people with Cerebral Palsy, spinal cord injuries, TBI and much more. The benefit from aquatic therapy includes developing greater muscle control and strength and improving self-confidence. Working in the water adds buoyancy and takes stress and pressure off the body and joints.
My name is Marta. My dream is to build a warm water swimming pool for people with disabilities. Warm water pools in the Denver metro area are closing and people with disabilities often have no place to go. Since I was a little girl, I was drawn to the water. I was a competitive swimmer for many years. After moving to the USA, I became a fitness instructor, teaching various classes in the water including swimming. I was introduced to aquatic shiatsu massage and became a certified practitioner. I also work with kids and adults that have autism, down syndrome, PTSD and more.
While building a pool will be difficult and costly it is still my ultimate goal. Currently, I am leasing pool time from a swim school that provides me with limited hours during weekdays and Sundays. I have such a demand that all appointments are filled.
Your donation will help pay for the installation of push buttons to open doors automatically, provide equipment, and help with daily operations.
