Mission
Fremont Search and Rescue is a volunteer, self-funded, non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, providing services to the 47,426 residents and visitors, in the 1,533 square miles of the county. We operate in all conditions and terrains encompassed within Fremont County, from the high altitude plains in the east, to the snow covered 13ers of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains in the west, including the Royal Gorge and the waters of the Arkansas River. Last year our approximately 29 members donated more then 8000 volunteer hours serving the community.
In just the past several years Fremont Search and Rescue has responded to 100's of missions, directly impacting the return of over 71 people to their family and friends. The missions have included; back-country search, rescues and extractions, river/water rescues and urban searches, including children and at risk adults. Most missions include patient medical support, until hand-off to definitive medical care.
