Mission

To restore and protect the Uncompahgre River ecosystem while enhancing our community's connection to the river.

Background Statement

• Riparian Restoration – Improving and protecting the habitat in the riparian corridor for recreation, wildlife, water quality, drought and disease resistance, and downstream agriculture.

• Trail Work – Maintaining trails along the river to provide safe recreation opportunities. Given the importance placed upon expanding trails from a survey conducted as part of the Baldridge Regional Park Master Plan, constructing new trails will likely become part of our work program.

• River Caretaking – Monitoring conditions, fixing problems when found either directly or by working with the City’s crews if beyond our capacity, and alerting river users of hazards that arise.

• Outreach and Education – Through festivals, education-related events, newspaper articles, public presentations, a monthly newsletter and our website, we are increasing our community’s knowledge about the river and awareness of its contributions to our community’s health and well-being.
