Testimonials
"My journey at Girls Inc. of Metro Denver has been one that has undeniably shaped my life. Girls Inc. has always been a sort of pillar in my life, especially going through the different phases of being a child, then transitioning to a tween, and now finally to a young woman. These last few years, especially, have been tumultuous to say the least, but one place I could always find community and stability was at Girls Inc." - Latifa, 2025 Girls Inc. Scholar
“Girls Inc. was life-changing for me; it taught me to give things a try. The experience has been fun, and I am glad to be able to call this place my second home.” - Coral, Girls Inc. Girl from 1st-12th grade
“We go to Girls Inc. because it is a safe place for my girls that my family can count on. The Girls Inc. summer is so fun and my girls learn so many different things like how to name and handle their emotions and even how to play the guitar! At the afterschool program, I know my girls will get picked up from school by the Girls Inc. vans, get fed, and that they will be in a place that helps them grow and feel empowered.” - Girls Inc. Parent
"What’s truly inspiring about my time at Girls Inc. is seeing that girls are developing leadership skills, learning to be outgoing, and to speak their mind without being controlled by what others think they should be doing. It’s an empowering experience for me, too. It reminds me that I’m capable of that, too. Many of the girls are incredibly dedicated to the organization and to their personal growth." - Lisa, Girls Inc. Volunteer for Over 5 Years

Background Statement
Founded in 1983, Girls Inc. of Metro Denver (GIMD) was established to fill the gap in comprehensive, girl-specific after-school programming in Denver. GIMD is an affiliate of the national Girls Incorporated organization, a recognized authority on girls' issues with a history dating back to 1864.
GIMD has evolved from an after-school mentorship program into a holistic organization serving over 2,500 youth annually with programming focused on the Whole Girl, including STEM education, civic leadership, entrepreneurship, and overall wellbeing support. This evolution has been driven by continuous feedback from girls and families, ensuring that programs align with their most pressing needs to best prepare girls for the workforce.
GIMD's comprehensive programming provides girls with three essential forms of capital for success:
Aspirational: Opportunities where girls envision themselves as leaders and set career goals through exposure to diverse role models and career pathways across all program areas.
Navigational: Skills to maneuver and demystify systems such as higher education, workforce entry, and community engagement through internship programs, college preparation, and post-secondary support.
Social: Connections to networks, resources, and peer communities that support long-term success through mentoring relationships, alumni connections, and community partnerships.
Through its comprehensive programs, GIMD ensures that girls receive consistent, impactful support that empowers them to thrive academically and personally, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed in all aspects of their lives.
