About Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue

At Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue (GRFR), our passion drives our mission: to rescue, foster, and find loving forever homes for these incredible creatures we hold so dear - Golden Retrievers. Since our inception, we've been committed to making a difference in the lives of these majestic dogs.

In 2023 alone, we are proud to have almost reached the milestone of rescuing, fostering, and rehoming nearly 400 Goldens. Each rescue is a testament to our dedication and the unwavering support of our community.

We are a 100% volunteer-driven organization. Your generous donations go directly toward the care and well-being of our beloved dogs. From transportation costs associated with bringing our Goldens to Colorado to essential vet care, including health certificates needed for interstate travel, your support ensures that every pup receives the care they deserve.

Many of our rescues arrive in dire need of medical attention. Take Pearl, for instance, a former commercial breeder who arrived missing an eye, having never received proper treatment. Through your generosity, we were able to provide Pearl with the necessary medical care, allowing her to thrive and find her forever home.

Then there's Xena, a puppy discarded due to a cleft palate. Thanks to your support, we were able to provide Xena with the surgery she desperately needed, giving her a chance at a happy and healthy life.

Your contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant impact on the lives of these Goldens. We hope you'll consider supporting our cause and join us in our mission to provide a brighter future for these deserving pups.

Thank you for being a vital part of our journey and for making a difference in the lives of these incredible dogs.

Mission

Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue's (GRFR) mission is to rescue, foster, rehabilitate and adopt abused, neglected and unwanted Golden Retrievers and golden like dogs to permanent, prescreened quality homes. All of the organizations activities are designed to meet that mission.

Background Statement

Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue was founded in 2001 by three women that had a passion for saving Goldens and placing them into new loving homes. They had a passion to help reduce the number of dogs euthanized in shelters. The first year, 21 dogs were saved. The second year, it went up to 78 dogs and the year after was 98 dogs. When we started, we thought we would never make it over 100 dogs a year. As of 2023, GRFR has saved over 4,500 Goldens, Labradors, and retriever mixes.

Our volunteer base has grown to over 250 amazing volunteers that work tirelessly to help us save as many dogs as possible. They open their homes and hearts to the abused, abandoned or neglected dog that has little or no history coming into us and provided that dog with love, security, training and hope. They screen our potential adopters, attend various fundraising and public relations events, and keep our financial records, maintain our website, and write our quarterly newsletter.
