Donate my car
Change a life
Yvonne Pugh writes:
"I am a single mom struggling to make ends meet. My current car was old and mechanically unsafe. I am unable to pay for repairs nor can I buy a new car, so I needed help so I can get on my feet and take care of my family. My current car has been very unreliable, so I drove it as little as possible and every time I would drive it I would be very fearful that it would break down and I would have to walk with my children. This has made my life very stressful, always fearing every time I drive. I prayed the whole way taking it to Good Neighbor Garage to trade it in for my new car, and I am so glad it made it! I am so appreciative of the help I am getting: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

Transportation for a Grad Student**
Upgrade Program Provides Opportunity**
I am a graduate student at Denver Seminary and working part time, and could not afford a car. I was riding my bike to get back and forth from work and school and walking or taking public transit to get to other places. The only way for me to get to work was to ride along the trail that was behind my house since there are no sidewalks right off of Santa Fe Drive. At night when I got off of work, the trail was officially closed and it was pitch black and unsafe, but I still had to get home. It was October 2011 and with the snow coming, I needed another form of transportation. When taking the bus from church I witnessed a knife fight and was really traumatized and didn't want to keep on taking the bus. I was introduced to Good Neighbor Garage through my school professor. The day I was coming for my interview at GNG my class prayed for me, and later a fellow student approached me saying he wanted to help. After the meeting, I let the student know how much the car was and the next time we had class he handed me an envelope with the total amount in cash.
Car provided for student in needI returned to GNG, and drove off with my 1990 white Volvo wagon that I named Chepzhvah Chadessah Bat Simmons (translated - No longer will your land be desolate, for such a time as this, daughter of Simmons). I chose that name because I was blessed with her right when I really needed transportation and even though she was an older car she was still a blessing.
GNG has an upgrade program where if clients are able and want to upgrade their cars that they have purchased at a later date, they can and in July of 2012 I was able to trade in the Volvo for a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Thanks Good Neighbor Garage!

Mission

The mission of Good Neighbor Garage (GNG) is to provide transportation solutions supporting

families and individuals who are low wage/income in achieving economic self-sufficiency.

Background Statement

Good Neighbor Garage (GNG) is a faith-based 501(c)3 organization providing vehicle ownership placement and repair at significantly reduced rates to families and individuals who are low wage/income, to increase employment success and support self-sufficiency. GNG initially began providing services in the fall of 2003 through partner organizations, to address the significant unmet community need for reliable transportation solutions for families and individuals who are low wage/income. GNG incorporated as an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit agency in November 2006. In 2009, in response to an identified community need, GNG developed a vehicle repair program, accessible by agencies and organizations within the state of Colorado who serve clients who are low wage/income. From 2003 to the present, GNG has served more than 1000 families and individuals who are low wage/income in the Colorado community.
