We are humans first, and art is essential to our humanity. We strive for a more just and humane world, embracing the queerness in human experience – where collaborative art is an ongoing practice of radical community and collective healing. Performance is an embodied process for imagining, exploring, and deepening our humanity.

Giving Activity

Mission

Together, we practice a more queer and humane future through hybrid performance.

Background Statement

Grapefruit Lab is an old collaboration with a newish name – bringing together the combined vision and multimedia experience of Julie Rada and Miriam Suzanne. Affiliate artists include long-term collaborators Kenny Storms and local indie band Teacup Gorilla.

Yoko Ono’s quip that a grapefruit is the hybrid of a lemon and an orange (and snow is a hybrid of wish and lament) encapsulates our goal of combining highly-aesthetic, compelling artistic work with a process of creating alongside communities in ways that matter.
