"I remember watching out my bedroom window as the Green House Homes at
Mirasol were being built. At that time, I was living at Mirasol Senior Community with my daughter. She uses a walker herself, and it was a struggle for her to care for me and take me to appointments. I knew in my heart that I really wanted to come here, and I just couldn't wait. I was one of the first elders to arrive and I was very excited when I finally moved here in 2014. I treasure my privacy and love having my own private room and bathroom. Then it started to hit home and I realized, "You're on your own, kid!" John, our guide, interested me in activities, like gardening. That helped me find my way. My daughter still lives nearby so we can visit each other. My great grandsons visit, too. I will treasure forever the friends I've made here. I think it's been one of the better decisions that I've made for myself. It has helped me to branch out, be on my own, and be my own person. The Green House concept is beautiful. There's nothing to hold you back, except yourself."

Reimagining Eldercare.
The Green House Homes at Mirasol are Colorado's first Green House community, created as the vision of the Loveland Housing Authority to offer skilled nursing care managed by our partner - Vivage Quality Health Partners - on the beautiful Mirasol Senior Community campus. The Green House Homes at Mirasol opened October 2014 and were developed in accordance with The Green House Project Model. Our homes were made possible through a generous donation by the Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Foundation. The Green House model, created by Dr. William Thomas, founder of The Eden Alternative, is based on three fundamental core values: Meaningful Life, Empowered Staff and Real Home, offering long-term care that looks and feels like a real home.
