Guffey School is one of the oldest charter schools in Colorado, in operation since 1996. We formed because we are over an hour away from the offices of our authorizing school district, Park County RE-2, and the ability to have a degree of autonomy is well suited to our extremely rural and isolated location.
We have a typical enrollment of about 30 students. In most years we have three multi-age classrooms, K-2, 3-5, and 6-8, so each teacher has a small class. It isn't uncommon for us to graduate 8th graders who have been at this school since Kindergarten.
Mission
Students will have a life-long excitement for learning and be prepared academically, personally, socially and intellectually to achieve their personal goals and contribute actively to the betterment of their community.
