Located in the National Register 1918 Moffat Railroad Depot, the museum tells the stories of this rugged corner of Colorado from homesteading to coal mining w/ exhibits as well as special events and programming. Free admission and free research help in its research library.

The Mission of the Hayden Heritage Center is to engage, inspire, and educate the public by creating a sense of place in history with the preservation and exhibition of historic artifacts and information associated with the Town of Hayden and area of West Routt County, Colorado as well as to honor those individuals, families, and entities that have made an impact on the area's history and heritage.
The Hayden Heritage Center has been in operation since the mid 1960's when it was originally housed in the old Town Hall. In 1970 the museum moved to its permanent home in the former Moffat Railroad depot building, a brick structure built in 1918 which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Historic Routt County Registry. The Museum has exhibits on local area history including the Town of Hayden and West Routt County. Some highlights are exhibits on Mt. Harris, Local Quarterhorse Foundation Breeders, saddle collection, Routt County Schools, Moffat Railroad, Elkhead Community pictorial exhibit.
