Testimonials

"We currently have two children in Heritage's elementary and couldn't be more pleased with the high quality academic curriculum, close community of families and amazing faculty, and the biblical foundation as well as encouragement in their relationship with God our kids are receiving. This school is amazing!" -Cathy, parent

"This school has absolutely blown us away. Our children are in lower elementary. The staff at this school just naturally go above and beyond educating children to nurturing their individual little souls. It has been such a blessing to sit with teachers and have them share with me all of the little qualities about my children that make them unique. I can tell the environment at Heritage puts my kids at ease to be who they are and I know the staff desire to see their characters develop as well as their minds. In this environment, my children have thrived educationally. My husband and I are in awe of the desire for learning and creating they bring home with them. There are also so many involved parents & the school really feels peaceful and welcoming. Kids in all grades are known as they walk through the halls. Faculty & Staff are open to hearing any concerns you have and are quick to help develop a plan of action. Art and music is done so well also. Our children have each performed two or three times in the fall alone. The chapel is such a sweet time where kids gather, sing songs to the Lord and hear God's Word. Upper grade sports have some of the most amazing adults in Fort Collins for coaches. I encourage anyone interested in HCA to go and tour. I am very thankful our kids are here." - Vanessa, parent

Mission

The mission of Heritage is to offer authentic faith, academic excellence, and a nurturing environment. HCA is an inter-denominational Pre-K through 12th grade Christian school. At Heritage, we believe the best foundation we can offer is one deeply rooted in Christ. A worldview that is grounded in the teachings of the Bible will enable your child to face the challenges of society with integrity.

Background Statement

Heritage Christian Academy (HCA) is an independent, inter-denominational Christian school serving pre-school through twelfth-grade students. The school is incorporated in the state of Colorado as a non-profit organization under the direction of a 7-member Board of Directors.

Founded in 1970 by three local churches in Ft. Collins, Heritage Christian School (HCS) opened its doors at First Baptist Church to 56 students initially employing one administrator and four teachers. In 1973 HCA added a secondary program and graduated its first student.

For nearly 33 years, First Baptist housed the school, and then in 1994 Evangelical Covenant Church also opened its door to the high school as our program expanded. In 2002, both churches requested that HCS find a new facility as their church programs were growing. During that time, HCS found a manufacturing/office building on Wheaton Drive in southeast Fort Collins. HCS purchased and remodeled the building, with the move in date of October 2004.

Unfortunately, after three years at that location, we were unable to make the increased monthly payment, and the finance company was unwilling to renegotiate. At that point, the HCS Board of Directors reluctantly voted not to issue teacher contracts or make plans for the 2007-08 academic year.

A group of HCS parents joined forces determined to continue the school. They formed a foundation, Friends of Christian Education Foundation (since renamed Heritage Christian Foundation). The foundation located a nearly empty manufacturing building in northeast Fort Collins, agreed on a purchase price, secured financing, and began remodeling.

With intensive work by the foundation, parents, and teachers, classes began after Labor Day in temporary facilities of two local churches. By mid-October 2007, the educational sections of the building were sufficiently remodeled so the move in process could begin.

HCA is now in its twelfth year at this present facility, enjoying the benefits of having our own gymnasium and expanding the number of classrooms. Both the staff and families of Heritage are thankful to continue our program and have the opportunity to educate and minister to the students of the community.
