Help Us Rebuild The Hive: A Safe Haven for Youth and Community

The Hive DGO is an organization committed to empowering under-resourced and underrepresented youth in our community. We have a vision to create a space where creativity, inclusivity, and self-expression flourish—a place where young people can find their voice, explore their passions, and feel a sense of belonging.

Our downtown indoor skatepark, all-ages, and sober music venue has been a cornerstone of this vision. For three years, it has been a sanctuary for youth to connect, create, and grow in a safe and supportive environment. Unfortunately, this vital community hub is now in need of significant rebuilding due to moving locations, and we are turning to our friends, neighbors, and supporters to help us bring it back to life.

-Why Your Support Matters -

The Hive is more than just a physical space; it’s a lifeline for many young people in our community. It’s a place where they can escape the pressures of the outside world, express themselves through art, music, and skateboarding, and connect with peers and mentors who understand and support them. By providing a sober, inclusive space, we ensure that all youth—regardless of background—have the opportunity to thrive.

-Our Goal -

We aim to raise at least $50,000 by December 2024 to rebuild and revitalize this essential community hub. Your donation will go directly towards construction costs, new equipment, and ensuring that our venue remains accessible to all, regardless of financial means.

-How You Can Help -

Donate: Any amount, big or small, will make a difference. Every dollar brings us closer to our goal and helps secure a safe space for our youth and community.

$30 - Buy our Zine Volume #1 and we will mail it directly to you!

$500 Sponsorship- Your logo on a hole at the golf tournament as well as a hand painted logo on our Honeycomb Community wall at our new location. You can choose to have exposure in our indoor skatepark or all ages music venue!

- Become a sustaining member - Through a monthly donation in an amount you are comfortable with, we can have a sustained income to help us thrive and grow and in our new building. Colorado Gives Foundation will match up to $100 for every sustaining member donation recieved!

- Spread the Word - Share our mission with your network. The more people know about our cause, the more support we can garner.

- Get Involved - We’re always looking for volunteers and partners who share our passion for youth empowerment. You can apply to volunteer with us HERE!

-The Impact of Your Support -

By supporting The Hive, you’re not just contributing to a building; you’re investing in the future of our community. You’re helping to shape a generation of confident, creative, and compassionate young leaders. Your donation will ensure that The Hive remains a beacon of hope and a symbol of what we can achieve when we come together.

Thank you for considering our request.

Together, we can rebuild The Hive and continue to provide a safe, inspiring space for our youth to thrive and grow!

The Hive had a heartbreaking moment in the spring of 2024 when we had to move out of our space. A few of our amazing youth helped us in the final cleaning and painting stages of our downtown home
and they made a video to commemorate that day...their voice says it all.

Mission

The Hive DGO strives to support journeys in self discovery by providing a brave and inclusive space for under-resourced and underrepresented youth. We hope to empower those that dare to be different by facilitating creative expression and guidance in shaping future community leaders.

Background Statement

The Hive DGO was formed in July 2019 as the collaborative effort of Kelsie Borland, Alex Vick and Jeff Hamner. As longtime youth advocates and activists in Southwest Colorado, these three came together through their shared passion for engaging youth authentically and helping them actively manifest their dreams.

The catalyst: an alarming and increasing trend of suicides in Colorado, social isolation, loneliness, addiction to substances and poor social emotional wellness outcomes.

The dream: a full-time, year-round youth-centered community hub offering programming focused on creative expression, passion pursuit, leadership development, and supportive pro-social relationships through skateboarding, music, art, and beyond. By providing an opportunity to engage with unique programs and adult mentors, youth can find a sense of belonging, accomplishment and worth at The Hive!
