Since our founding in 2019, we have helped to furnish over 1000 homes in Boulder County! We partner with over 30 social service agencies who are working to help individuals and families find stable housing.
What is a home without a bed, dishes, or a table and chairs and other essential furnishings?
Our community has a surplus of reusable furniture and home goods -- as well as a community of people in need. At HomeAhead, we serve as the vital link, ensuring these items move from those who no longer need them to those who do. While the concept is simple, the operation requires storage space, trucks for transport, and a small staff to manage the logistics. By supporting HomeAhead, you enable us to continue providing this unique and essential service, while also diverting tons of items from the landfill. We see this as a win-win-win!
HomeAhead's mission is to promote housing stability by providing gently used, community-donated home furnishings to individuals & families transitioning from experiencing homelessness to being housed. We transform empty spaces into welcoming places where people can thrive. Our program supports success in housing while advancing equity & reducing landfill waste.
In 2019, a woman experiencing homelessness began attending services at a church in Boulder, Colorado. As she became more involved in this community, she shared the exciting news that she would soon be receiving housing. However, she also mentioned that she had nothing to furnish her new apartment except for the few items in her backpack. In response, the community came together to donate furnishings for her new home. When she told us that many others were in need of the same kind of support, HomeAhead was born!
