Background Statement
Located in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains just outside Bailey, CO, IdRaHaJe ("I'd Rather Have Jesus") is a 262-acre Christian camp providing outdoor recreational and educational opportunities to over 6,000 individuals each year, and over 250,000 campers and guests over its 76-year history. "Uncle" Paul and "Aunt" Mary Eiselstein, church planters with the ASSU (American Sunday School Union), founded the Camp in 1948 with the goal of introducing children to the person and work of Jesus Christ. Since its founding, IdRaHaJe has grown steadily in personnel, programs, and infrastructure. IdRaHaJe now serves nearly 3,000 campers each summer.
IdRaHaJe offers five separate camps by theme and age group, each a self-sustaining community replete with its own lodging and dining facilities: Pioneer Camp (ages 6-8); Mountain Village (ages 7-9); Wilderness Ridge (ages 9-12); Aspen View (ages 11-14); Lodge (ages 14-17). Narrow Way Expeditions is an additional program for adventure lovers ages 12-17, offering overnight trips including rock climbing, rafting, mountain biking, backpacking, and hiking.
IdRaHaJe also offers Mountain Lab School where public, private, homeschools and charter schools enjoy multi-day, immersive, hands-on educational experiences in learning outdoor ecologies and survival skills.
Now celebrating our 76th year of camp, IdRaHaJe is excited to continue to offer quality programming that points campers and guests to Jesus Christ.
