Background Statement
The International Keyboard Odyssiad® & Festival, U.S.A. (IKOF) is a magnet for exceptionally talented, world-class pianists. Each summer, Fort Collins takes center stage as IKOF brings national & international focus to the community by featuring talented young piano prodigies and internationally recognized Guest Artists from around the globe in a weeklong celebration of classical piano music. The LIVE Olympic-style competition is Free & Open to the Public. Competitors & festival attendees enjoy educational programs and masterclasses during the week, while concert goers are consistently “wowed” during affordable matinee & evening concerts headlining world-class Guest Artists, such as Olga Kern, Vadym Kholodenko, Sergei Babayan, Inon Barnatan, Natasha Paremski, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Roberto Plano, and many others.
IKOF has featured over 100 Guest Artists since its inception, including 12-year-old Russian prodigy Elisey Mysin, (2023) and 18-year-old South Korean sensation Yunchan Lim (2022), fresh off his Gold Medal win at the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. It has also served as a springboard for many competitors' careers, including Gold Medalists, Artem Kuznetsov (1st Prize in the 2024 International Blanca Uribe Competition in Columbia; First Prize in the Chicago International Piano Competition), Jialin Yao ( Second prize and the Best Chamber Music prize at the first Concurso Internacional de Piano “Ciudad de Málaga”; invited to the Ravinia Institute by Midori; first prize at the Fou T’song Piano Competition), Raditya Muljadi (1st Prize in Rubato International Piano Competition, Lang Lang scholar), and many others.
Free educationally-infused live concerts serve older adults & those living with age-related illness, further enhancing the artistic vitality of Fort Collins while building on the organization’s goal to ensure wide-reaching, affordable access to live piano music by great artists.
