Mission

We seek justice for people who struggle with poverty and oppression. We do this through compassionate civil legal representation in a way that affirms their dignity and strengthens their capacity to positively direct their own lives.

Background Statement

Co-founders, Steve Thompson and Sulma Mendoza, opened JAMLAC's doors in 2006 in response to a deep desire to fight injustice that those struggling with poverty face. JAMLAC began in a converted hotel room at Joshua Station and served 96 clients the first year. Now, in a much bigger space, we have 16 staff members and help 2,000 people annual.
