HELP THE JAS STREET HORNS GET TO NEW ORLEANS
$100 Raised
Founded in 1991 and entering its 34th season, Jazz Aspen Snowmass (JAS) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The Mission of JAS is to present and preserve jazz and related forms of music through world-class events, performances, and education programs.
HELP JAS KEEP THE MUSIC PLAYING!
JAS LEI (Local Education Initiatives) develops programming that complements existing public school music programs and replaces programs where schools suffer losses due to budget cuts. These programs are invaluable to students and teachers in the Roaring Fork Valley and 1-70 corridor. Learn more about JAS education programming and history here.
Since 1996 JAS has donated over $10 million to these and other education initiatives!
"And a bigger 'thank you' to all of you for what you do for our programs. I really mean it when I say that none of us directors would be able to maintain any level of sanity without that help provided by JAS. More importantly, our students would suffer without your help. They benefit so much from the attention that they get in smaller groups. Thank you as well for all of the other opportunities, like the Showcase, Honor Jazz, and of course, letting the StreetHorns play at Labor Day! I can't think of a better way to kick off the year!" - Nick Lenio, Basalt Middle & High School Music Director
"We can't thank JAS In-Schools enough for this incredible opportunity and for ALL they do for our young musicians! They truly make dreams come true and our valley is so fortunate to have them!!! Our heartfelt thanks to you!" - Sarah, mother of high school student
"Ever since they started coming and showing me lots of new stuff and correct notes, I'm not scared to play my saxophone anymore. I can finally do it!" - 7th grader at Glenwood Middle School regarding the help they received from the JAS Faculty Assistants
"I can now play Ironclad part one without being afraid." - 8th grader at Glenwood Middle School regarding the help they received from the JAS Faculty Assitants
Thank you!!!! You made a difference in my life (and my husband's) and the lives of 135 students" - Tami L. Suby - Glenwood Springs Middle and High School Music Director.
"Thank you for supporting Roaring Fork High School (and all the valley's schools) as well. My daughter Carly is having a great musical year! This is particularly important for her right now as she is struggling in other areas of her school life. Having a strong connection to music is helping her get through the difficulties of the teenage years!" - Pam, mother of a high school band student at Roaring Fork High School.
The Mission of JAS is to present and preserve jazz and related forms of music through world-class performances, event and education programs.
What began in 1991 as a small, intimate jazz festival in Aspen has turned into an organization with two multi-day summer music events, exceptional music education programs, and an intimate new club the JAS Cafe, featuring live jazz and world music through the year. While the venues, crowds, dates and genres of music continually evolve, one thing remains the same: JAS' commitment to educate and entertain students and audiences of all backgrounds while preserving America's musical heritage.
