Testimonials
I have been a boys' mentor with Knights of Heroes for a number of years now and I have never in my life heard of or seen another organization quite like this one. The positive impact KOH has on these kids is beyond words. The group of mentors is the most impressive bunch of fellas I've ever worked with. I've watched boys come up through KOH from year one through graduation and the transformation in their life is unreal. Terrified, angry and confused youths are transformed into courageous, mature and bold men who often are already impacting the world around them for good. I am honored to be a part of Knights.
I am a gold star child and I have been attending this camp for over a decade; I now return as staff and help where I can. This is easily the best nonprofit organization I have ever encountered. Over the years, the countless outdoor activities like rock climbing, water rafting, and archery have forged me into a strong, confident person, despite the loss of my father. Through this camp, I have found connections with other Gold Star children, which has created numerous deep friendships. Having this support system is what gets me through the tough days. In addition to friendships, the KOH staff has also come to play an extremely important role in my life. I look up to each and every one of them; their strong morals and authentic passion for serving others guides me when I need it the most. I couldn't imagine my life without this organization.
Knights of Heroes is an amazing camp. I remember my first year I was scared to go, but now I made family and friends forever. The activities are super fun ...some of the activities are shotgun shooting, Throwing tomahawks and knives, archery, canoeing and White water rafting. The mentors there are very helpful, kind, nice, and respectful The mentors help us fight through the grief of our fathers. Knights of heroes is the best camp I have ever been to.
This was our families first experience with Knights Of Heroes and I have to say that it was well beyond our expectations. My husband and I always wanted to teach our children the importance of character, service, and life skills. We wanted to walk along with them to teach key skills that help them become contributing members of society who embody kindness, faith, and generosity. When I lost my husband those values did not die- however it became my responsibility. Knights of Heroes is an organization that walks with families of the fallen. They know the hearts and desires of the families and they take the values that are important in life and spend time one on one with the children to nurture them. They instill self-confidence, service, team-work as well as friendship, and mentorship- all while learning to shoot, rock climb, and throw tomahawks. They take special consideration to choose activities that would traditionally be taught by fathers and give these kids the opportunity to be kids. My son was not the same when he returned from the camp. Even in just one week I can see how his confidence and desire to be a better person has increased. I cannot thank KOH enough and I feel so blessed to be apart of this organization.
This was our first year in participating with Knights of Heroes. My 11 and 13 year old boys had a fantastic experience. They had the opportunity to bond with mentors who had graduated from the program and form friendships with other boys whose dads have died in the military. The activities KOH exposes the kids to are fantastic. All while building strong character and teaching responsibility, leadership, and emphasizing a strong moral compass. There are simply some things, as a sole parent, that I just can't teach my children. Having the support of an organization like Knights of Heroes to teach my kids real life skills that their dad himself would have otherwise taught them, while boosting their self confidence is absolutely priceless. I can't say enough about the KOH organization and the positive influence they are having on my kids!
Three of my four children have now attended this incredible camp. Knights of Heroes has been a powerful influence in their lives since the death of their father. I could tell a hundred stories about the amazing people that have loved on my kids, the experiences they've had, and the lessons they've learned.
My oldest son is at an age where a young man really needs his Dad. I am so thankful for the ways KOH has stepped into that gap for him and has given him something he truly loves and looks forward to. This summer was my younger daughters first time as a camper. When I picked her up she told me that she loved the week because it felt so good to be around other kids that understood her...
