Thank you from the LOLA's Rescue Team

Why We Need Your Support Now More Ever:

Rescue work comes with so many challenges and we need your help and continued support to tackle them!  The influx of rescue dogs and cats has risen in 2024, along with the cost of their daily care such as food, housing, basic veterinary care including spay/neuter and vaccines.

These challenges have placed an incredible strain on our resources. $1,400 feeds the animals in our care for 1 month. Veterinary and medical expenses have increased substantially, averaging $200 per spay/neuter.  This year alone, our predicted annual medical expenses will be well over $200,000.

Without your dedication and support, LOLA’s Rescue simply can't sustain the level of care these animals desperately deserve.  Every dollar donated helps us continue our mission of saving lives and goes directly toward the dogs and cats in our care.

Jalapeno
Written from Moma Dog’s Perspective:

A mother’s worst nightmare is not to be able to be there for her child when they are in pain and scared. I’m so sorry I could not be there, and you had to witness such trauma and sadness in your tiny young life. You see I was a great mommy; I fed my pups more than they could wish for, kept them fat and happy, we played, we ran wild and free, we loved to run and greet passersby on the highway in front of our human’s home. I never imagined as a mom the dangers our humans weren't protecting us from. On the day that changed our lives forever, it was a normal day, we were running, playing and got so excited when we heard the engine of a car as humans always stopped to pet us and tell us how pretty we were – it was great having visitors, because life out there could get boring. On this day we went running to greet the people in the car who were for sure going to stop to pet us and tell us how pretty we were, right? They didn't see us.....the last thing I remember is hearing a horrible screeching noise, and oh no, my baby was screaming, making sounds of pain and fear. I was hit by this car and my worst nightmare, so was my baby....I remember trying to get up to help her, wanting to comfort her, as she stared at me in fear and sadness, all light faded away. I couldn't move, I couldn't lift my head. The humans that came to help said that my injuries were too severe, and I passed right there on the street with Baby Jalapeno laying on me, watching me die, in pain and so much fear.  Baby Jalapeno was given medical care by people trying to help, but sadly, her broken leg was cast incorrectly. She was transferred to LOLA's Rescue where Jalapenos’ new vets removed the original cast that was placed on her to start building leg strength and prepare for needed surgery.  She received so much love and care from foster humans, who did a great job of healing the emotional trauma she suffered.  Jalapeno’s injuries have been treated and she is now ready for her furever family, which would a mother’s wish is coming true.

Mission

L.O.L.A.'S Rescue is a shelter and foster based organization, operating completely as a non-profit animal rescue program. Based in Colorado, providing services for Colorado and surrounding states. Our rescue was founded on the idea of being able to save as many at risk animals as possible from uncertain futures, while upholding the highest standards and values for animals in our care. Our concentration is on partnering with high kill shelters and at-risk community animals in abuse, neglect and abandonment situations. Our ultimate goal being a reduction in the number of euthanasia's, (due to overcrowding), in our local shelters and surrounding areas. We rehabilitate these animals so they can be placed in amazing, loving homes without the threat of an uncertain future.

We have relocated and re-homed thousands of animals. Since our inception, we have successfully placed over 10,000 animals in forever homes. Working to drastically reduce the number of unwanted litters and homeless animals, who are being euthanized due to overpopulation. We also provide public education on the importance of spaying /neutering and information about local low-cost or free resources.

We are consistently growing our network of reliable, trained foster families. Our foster families allow for an increased intake of animals in need, providing a safe, comfortable home environment to prepare these animals for adoption.

We started as a small rescue striving to make a difference in not only the lives of animals but in the people who adopt them. We operate solely on the donations and support from donors like you. We are very proud of the relationship and reputation we have built within our community.

Background Statement

Our organization was founded 12 years ago, as a result of seeing the overwhelming need for places to safely foster and provide care for homeless or unwanted animals. We saw how many shelters were struggling with space, and how little resources were available to people struggling to care for their animals, all of this resulting in astronomical numbers of adoptable animals being euthanized. Our original goal with nothing but our own personal savings was to save 15 dogs in the first year, with support from the community we were able to save 68 that year! Now with help and support from our community and further we have expanded to helping cats and have been part of over 7500 lives saved with our efforts. Our goals for the years to come are to continue the amazing rate of success we have created, in hopes of one day being able to provide a sanctuary living situation, short and long term, with exponential space and resources to not have to ever turn animals in need away.
