Background Statement
Legacy High School opened in the Fall of 2000 and is a vital part of the Broomfield community. Legacy Bands pride themselves on their work ethic and success in all areas of music including concert band, jazz band, marching band, winter percussion, winter guard, and pep band. Their concert bands and jazz bands consistently earn superior ratings at festivals, and both winter guard and winter percussion teams have earned multiple state championships in their disciplines.
The Legacy Marching Band is an 11-time 5A state marching band champion. In fact, Legacy is the only marching band in Colorado history to have placed either first or second 18 years consecutively. In addition, the Legacy Marching Band is the only Colorado band to have attended the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Tournament of Roses Parade, the London New Year's Parade, and the St. Patrick's Day Parade. The Lightning Marching Band is honored to return to Dublin to march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in 2025!
Legacy High School and its band program continue to develop lifelong advocates for the arts, young men and women with strong values, and individuals with a commitment to excellence. Legacy graduates have a spirited work ethic and are grounded in teamwork and collaboration. They celebrate the success of others and embody the highest ideals of sportsmanship.
