We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to supporting the thriving creative industries and community that makes Mancos, Colorado a special place to live and visit.
Our work in the Mancos community is guided by three core values:
1) Creativity is good for business: We believe our many creative industries are vital to a thriving local economy. Therefore, we work to support our creative businesses and individuals to foster economic vibrance and income opportunities.
2) Creativity is good for connection: We believe that creative endeavors build bridges that strengthen our community. Through our events and other programs we work to foster creative opportunities that build connection, collaboration, and understanding.
3) Creativity is good for our identity: We believe there is value in the unique & creative identity of our community. We work to amplify the specialness of our community through public art, events, and marketing that celebrates our creative character and helps establish Mancos as a creative hub of the Southwest.
Fundraising Goal: In 2024, we have a goal of raising $25,000 in individual contributions from supporters like you. These generous contributions make up 12% of our annual funding. As of November we have raised $23,175! Help us cross the finish line to our goal...only $1,825 to go.
Our mission is to build and sustain a welcoming, diverse and active creative culture that benefits the Mancos Valley both socially and economically.
Mancos, Colorado is a unique melting pot of artists and makers, farmers and ranchers, outdoor adventurers, local independent businesses, and visitors. In 2015 a group of Mancos community members worked with the Colorado Creative Industries, part of the State of Colorado Office of Economic Development, to help Mancos become certified Colorado Creative District.
As the nonprofit organization stewarding the creative district certification, we spent the past nine years hosting annual events that draw a regional audience to Mancos, championing public art in our community, and working collaboratively with local businesses, organizations and artists to further the economic development of our rural town.
In 2024 we were offered the opportunity to purchase and become the next stewards of the historic Mancos Opera House. In 2025 we plan to embark on this new journey to usher the opera house into a new era and ensure that it is a wonderful asset to our community for many, many years to come.
