The mission of the McAuliffe at Smiley Foundation (MSF) is to provide resources to support McAuliffe International School. The foundation works with the school administration to prioritize school needs and then executes fundraising campaigns to address those needs, focusing on capital improvements.
McAuliffe is a very special place for our students, filled with moments of curiosity, learning, and discovery. This Colorado Gives Day, you can help us continue to make all of these moments possible for every student.
Colorado Gives Day is more than a day of giving. It is about celebrating the spirit of philanthropy that we share in Colorado. You can help the McAuliffe at Smiley Foundation this Colorado Gives Day with a gift and by helping us spread the word! All gifts to the McAuliffe at Smiley Foundation on Colorado Gives Day receive a boost from a $1.6 million statewide incentive fund, giving your donation even more impact. Every dollar raised makes our community stronger and gives our kids what they need to be successful!
"Hungry bellies can't learn. A safe roof over your head and food to eat are basic human rights. Our main focus at the McAuliffe at Smiley Foundation is ensuring our students have what they need to succeed. That focus is why we have a food bank. It's why we have uniforms, coats, and shoes stashed away in a closet on campus. It's why we provide scholarships for kids to participate in field trips or on sports teams. Everything we do is through a lens of providing the best possible environment for our students so they can succeed."
Michelle Scott, Board Member McAuliffe at Smiley Foundation
"The McAuliffe at Smiley Foundation wants to ensure that the Smiley Middle School campus provides a welcoming and inspiring environment that promotes learning and achievement. The main school building, constructed in 1928, is a historic landmark whose impressive scale and architecture reflects the vital importance the community placed upon educating its children."
Scott WalkerFormer, Board Member McAuliffe at Smiley Foundation
The McAuliffe at Smiley Foundation works with the school administration to prioritize school needs, identify which essentials require additional fundraising, and then execute fundraising campaigns to address those needs.
Most fundraising for McAuliffe falls into the following four categories:
Student Support – Supplemental resources to provide disadvantaged students with what they need to be successful.
Program Sponsorship – Enable additional learning opportunities to expand student experiences.
Staff Support – Support faculty through workplace enhancements and recognition.
Capital Improvements – Bring the Smiley Campus up to current standards for a 21st century learning environment as requested by our McAuliffe at Smiley school administrators.
MSF Background
The McAuliffe at Smiley Foundation (MSF) was established in 2014 to help address the funding gap between what Denver Public Schools is willing to provide and the additional resources we need for our middle school students. By harnessing the resources of parents and the community, MSF seeks to ensure an exceptional educational environment for the students at McAuliffe.
The foundation is led by a board of directors that usually meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm. Board meetings are open to the public. MSF is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization. All donations to the foundation are 100% tax deductible.
