Museum of Art Fort Collins

A nonprofit organization

Founded in 1983, The Museum of Art Fort Collins (MoA) stands as the city's sole public art museum funded by the community, for the community.

MoA's mission is to boldly explore contemporary society through art, connecting art, artists, and the community. With a vision to offer the region top-tier art experiences, MoA sparks conversations, creates inspiring exhibitions and programs, and serves as an arts leader, remaining guided by principles of connectivity, relevance, and vision.

MoA embraces aesthetic, political, social, and environmental issues relevant to the community. MoA showcases captivating local, regional, and national 20th and 21st-century art while providing artist workshops, classes, and a commitment to inclusivity with their "MoA for All" program, granting free entry to underrepresented community members ensuring that all have access to art and culture.

Mission

To boldly explore contemporary society through art–enlightening, educating, and providing arts leadership for our region. We connect art, artists and community.

Background Statement

As we wrap up another impactful year at the Museum of Art Fort Collins (MoA), we want to extend ouor deepest gratitude for your support. Your commitment helps ensure that our community has access to vibrant, thought-provoking art and programs that connect people in powerful ways.

This year has also been fiscally challenging. A $1.5 million mortgage places a significant financial responsibility on the Museum, requiring an extra $100,000 annually to manage.

However, we have an exciting opportunity to amplify your generosity through our MoAmentum campaign. Thanks to two generous donors, every dollar you contribute will be matched up to $60,000!

Your contribution goes twice as far, dollar for dollar!

Your investment now will help us unlock this match and continue delivering on our mission of exploring contemporary society through art, ensuring that the Museum remains a vital and inclusive cultural hub for all.

Why should you invest in us?

Investment in the Future of Art in Fort Collins: Your donation ensures that MoA remains a vibrant hub for exhibitions and programs that reflect and respond to critical social issues. Exhibitions like Nepantla—which explores the complex realities of Chicano and Latino cultural identity—are just the beginning of what we can do with your support.

Investment in Our Historic Building: For 30 years, we’ve been stewards of this iconic space. In 2022, we took on a $1.5 million investment to secure the upper floors, adding an extra $100,000 annually in mortgage costs. Your support helps preserve this building and honors our founder’s vision of it as a cultural center for the community.

Investment in MoA for All: Our MoA for All initiative guarantees that a wide diversity of our local community members - e.g. students, veterans, and low-income families - have access to art and education. We provided free access to over 4,000 people this year! Your support directly fuels this critical program, ensuring that everyone in Fort Collins can experience the transformative power of art.

Investment in Education and Programming: In 2024 we increased our programming by 167.32%! The Museum of Art Fort Collins is on track to increase engagement with underserved audiences by 15% from 2023 to 2024. Feedback from partner organizations has driven improvements in accessibility, including classroom upgrades and language translations in galleries. Free educational programs have drawn 318 students and adults, while over 4,000 visitors are projected to enjoy free access days by year-end.

Investment in Collaboration: New partnerships with local nonprofits have boosted access through family nights, field trips, and camp scholarships. The Nepantla exhibition has especially resonated with diverse school groups, inspiring students to explore their cultural identity. In 2025, the museum will launch a "Sponsor a Child" program to ensure all children can access summer camp experiences at no cost.

We have created MoAmentum through collaboration with so many artists and organizations, from hosting concerts by Off the Hooks Arts, Bursts of Brilliance Salons with Teresa Funke, and exhibits and tours with over 20 nonprofit social service providers and their clients including Boys and Girls Club of Larimer County, Crossroads Safehouse and Healing Warriors.

By giving now, you’re not just donating—you’re investing in the future of art, culture, and community in Northern Colorado. And remember, our matching fund will double every dollar you contribute.
