Testimonials

Monument Hill Kiwanis has been a faithful supporter of the youth in our community and our nonprofit organization, which has in turn allowed us to serve the disadvantaged youth of our community. Their organization impacts range from dictionaries and school supplies for the youth in our local schools, to food and financial assistance to the low-income population. They help raise awareness and garner support from the community at large and our community wouldn't thrive without their impacts.
Haley Chapin - Executive Director, Tri-Lakes Cares

From a legacy reaching back into the 1970s, the Monument Hill Kiwanis Foundation has been working unceasingly for decades to provide exceptional opportunities for the youth of northern El Paso County. They have enabled improved futures for at-risk youth of every age. Their service leadership clubs in D38 elementary, middle and high schools provide hundreds of students with service experience each year-building character and resiliance-preparing our nation's future leaders. Their vital support of the Rocky Mountain Youth Leadership Foundation, has enabled us to provide the premier leadership education exeperience in Colorado for rising high school seniors-building informed citizen leaders. Best of all, the Monument Hill Kiwanis Club is all-volunteer, with no paid positions, so that every dollar donated to MHKC will be used in Making a Difference for Youth and Our Community.

The Career Start Scholarship program sponsored by Monument Hill Kiwanis provides money for graduating high school seniors for post-graduate study in a setting other than a four year university. These students opt to enroll in vocational or technical programs such as Culinary, Cosmetology, Small Engine Repair, Computers, etc., or an Associates Degree program at a community college. The money awarded these students provides seed dollars to get them started on a career that does not require a university degree. Many are able to enter the world of work upon completion of their chosen program.
Students can take dual high school and associate degree hours and are able to complete programs within two years of graduation. Students return to speak at our Kiwanis breakfast meetings sharing the importance and impact of these scholarships on their lives and chosen careers.

Mission

Our mission is to provide grants to organizations that improve people's lives and meet human needs with an emphasis on youth in El Paso County.

Background Statement

We were created in 2004 as the granting arm of the Monument Hill Kiwanis Club. Since our creation, we donated over $1 million dollars. We conduct two fundraisers per year for Tri-Lakes Cares (the organization in northern El Paso County providing food and human services), and The Salvation Army. These fundraisers generate approximately $25,000/year for Tri-Lakes Cares and $45-50,000/year for The Salvation Army. We conduct an annual granting program providing approximately $45,000 to worthy non-profits and charities.

An eleven-member Board of Directors manages the Foundation composed of members of the Club and community leaders.
