Testimonials

From a mother...

"My name is Julianne Legg, and because of a drunk driving crash that resulted in my son Kristopher Mansfield's death, I am very familiar with the amazing people at MADD Colorado.

For over a year there were court hearings involving the man who killed our Kris. These hearings would sometimes last for hours or even into the following day. Then, after that person served his prison term, there were more hearings to determine whether or not he would be allowed to continue with his law practice. Every time without fail, there was a representative from MADD Colorado with us.

Over the past years the people at MADD Colorado have not forgotten us. Every year both on Kris' birthday and on the anniversary of the crash we receive a card in the mail letting us know that they remember our Kris and asking if there is anything they can do for us. Our friends and family continue to be impressed at the service that MADD Colorado still offers to us.

I believe you get the picture - the people at MADD Colorado have been a steady presence in our lives ever since the crash that caused our Kris' passing occurred. We have been and continue to be very grateful for their caring manner, their gentle guidance, and their ever-present support. We don't know if we'd have been able to make this difficult journey without them."

Mission

The mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes and prevent underage drinking.

Background Statement

MADD Colorado is the Colorado State Organization of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). 100% of the donations received by MADD Colorado stay in our state to help keep our communities safe and to seek justice for victims and survivors of drunk and drugged driving crashes.

Founded by a mother whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver, Mothers Against Drunk Driving is the nation's largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving and underage drinking. And as one of the largest victim services organizations in the U.S., MADD also supports drunk and drugged driving victims and survivors at no charge, serving a victim every 15 minutes through local MADD victim advocates and at 1-877-MADD-HELP.

In June 1983, Barbara Brodt founded MADD Colorado out of her home in honor of her mother, Dorothy Brodt, who was senselessly killed by a drunk driver. MADD Colorado has its office in Denver but provides support services to victims and survivors across the state.
