Background Statement
NAC Food Pantry was formed in response to our national organization's directive to reach out and serve our communities. In late 2015, a small group of dedicated volunteers responded to the call. Motivated by compassion and their own previous experience with hunger/need to offer food relief, our founding volunteers did research on the food pantry industry. We served at food pantries in our vicinity and sought advice from area food pantry managers. We piloted a small food pantry for our church members in a closet at our previous location in Northglenn, CO. We opened for the community in June 2016 at our current Arvada, CO location and occupy 400 square feet there. In 2018, we installed a Community Share Station or Blessing Box, which is a mini pantry available 24/7, on our property. This is filled daily by our community and volunteers. NAC Food Pantry was founded on values of respect, dignity and inclusion. We want our guests to feel welcomed in a supportive environment as we walk with them in life. Our initial support came from our church members donating food. Start up funding came via a grant from The National Organization of the New Apostolic Church of North America. We were blessed to later be awarded two Colorado Food Pantry Assistance Grants. We became a partner agency with Food Bank of the Rockies in 2016. We are/have also partnered with Panera Bread, Target, We Don't Waste, Meat Cleaver, Project Our Town, Dependable Cleaners' Coats for Colorado, The Arvada Chamber of Commerce, Hunger Free Colorado, Food Exchange Resource Network, Beau Jo's Pizza, USPS Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, Colorado Feeding Kids, Xcel Energy Day of Service, Val-U-Ads and Colorado Cycle Dynamics. NAC Food Pantry has grown to become a bright spot in the community offering food and warm fellowship to all.
