Native American Housing Circle (NAHC) was founded in 2019 by a group of Native American community leaders who recognized the need for affordable housing for Native American people. NAHC is a coalition of Native-led and Native-serving community organizations, community members, and allies. The mission of NAHC is to advocate for and create affordable housing opportunities and direct services for Native American people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in the Denver Metro area. NAHC envisions a strong Native-led voice for culturally responsive housing to support stability and healing.

“The land on which we reside is the traditional territory of the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapaho Peoples. We also acknowledge the 48 contemporary tribal nations are historically tied to the lands that make up the state of Colorado. We honor Elders past, present, and future, and those who have stewarded this land throughout generations. We also recognize that government, academic and cultural institutions were founded upon and continue to enact exclusions and erasures of Indigenous Peoples. May this acknowledgment demonstrate a commitment to working to dismantle ongoing legacies of oppression and inequity and recognize the current and future contributions of Indigenous communities in Denver. “

NAHC collaborates with Native-led and Native-serving community organizations, community members, and allies who advocate and create affordable housing opportunities and direct services for Native American people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in the Denver Metro area. NAHC currently provides rent assistance to Native American people who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability and collaborates with coalition partners to help ensure a comprehensive continuum of care and support including health care, housing, job services, and education services.

NAHC’s Values include:

  • Native-Centric Approach: Led by the Native values of respect, compassion, and generosity.
  • Collaborative: Creating and leveraging culturally responsive partnerships and resources.
  • Community Driven: Responsive to identified needs.
  • Innovation: Focused on transformational approaches and outcomes.
