Background Statement
New Cottage Arts was established in 2019 in response to a significant need for accessible, culturally relevant music and art education in Denver’s under-resourced communities. Recognizing that many young people, especially those from marginalized backgrounds, lack opportunities for creative expression and social-emotional growth, we set out to bridge this gap by offering free and low-cost arts programming designed to empower youth and foster community connection.
Our programs focus on serving historically underrepresented populations, including youth of color, newcomer refugee youth, LGBTQ+ youth, and families experiencing socioeconomic challenges. Through year-round group classes, one-on-one lessons, community events, and school partnerships, we aim to build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of identity and purpose among our participants.
New Cottage Arts believes that arts education is not just a creative outlet but a vital tool for personal development, mental health support, and community building. In every session and performance, we work to create a safe, inclusive space where youth can connect with one another, learn from caring mentors, and experience the transformative power of the arts. Our approach combines high-quality instruction with mentorship, family involvement, and culturally relevant curricula that reflect and celebrate the identities of our students.
We are committed to expanding access to the arts in Denver, fostering well-being and opportunity, and enriching the lives of youth and their families for years to come.
