Your donations aid in saving a dog's life!  Your generous contributions are the reason Nikeno's Second Chances is able to find forever homes for dogs who, through no fault of their own, have found themselves in a shelter.  A shelter that all to often has to euthanize - often due to space limitations. 

Once the animals are placed in a shelter, they seem to know that even though this is a clean and dry space with daily meals there is something very unsafe about why they are there.  Some of the dogs become quiet and withdrawn, with hopes no one will see them to take them away, as they seem to know that their neighbor left with kennel staff and never returned. 

Some become aggressive as a way to defend themselves for the doom and gloom they are facing.  For others - it's just another walk in the park.

No matter how these dogs feel and react to the shelter environment, they all face the same outcome. If they stay too long, their life will be short!  

Unfortunately, many shelters are not in a position to screen potential adopters very well.  Nikeno's Second Chances is different.  Once a dog comes to Nikeno's, we promise to end their suffering by healing them physically and emotionally. We help them find a home that will love and cherish them forever.

Nikeno's Second Chances helps the unadoptable become adoptable via new owner education and dog training.  This is provided to each of the Nikeno's dogs in our care and once adopted, to their new families.  All new Nikeno's dog owners are required to attend 4 weeks of training with Clearwater Dog Training in Lakewood, Colorado.  This to ensures that the adoption goes smoothly and our promise to each dog is fulfilled.

Nikeno's puts a great deal of care into each dog before it goes up for adoption.  While there may only be a few dogs up for adoption at a time, other dogs are being worked with behind the scenes getting ready to be adopted.  Time and training may be needed due to behavior concerns, health issues, or needing to decompress from stressful conditions.  Nikeno's invests time, money and patience in each dog - helping them along their journey.
