The Pikes Peak Library District Foundation's sole mission is to raise and manage funds to assure excellence in the Pikes Peak Library District by funding the expansion of programs, services, and facilities beyond what is directly supported by the residents of the District.

The Pikes Peak Library District Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in 2003 at the direction of the PPLD Board of Trustees. The PPLD Foundation supports the second largest library district in Colorado and has the authority to receive, hold, invest and administer assets for the exclusive benefit of the Pikes Peak Library District and works to secure contributions from individuals, businesses, and foundations that will support the library's strategic plan.
Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) was established in 1903 and recently received recognition as one of 247 library systems named to Library Digest's Star Library list for its excellence in serving the community. PPLD serves the 674,826 residents (102,959 are between the ages of 15-24) in El Paso County providing 790 hours of library service a week across 2,090 square miles. Its fourteen facilities, online resources, and mobile libraries provide materials and innovative technology, meeting spaces, and programs are critical to fostering a community of educated, informed and engaged citizens. Program attendance was 294,123 in 2017 and library meeting rooms were booked 46,501 times by individuals and community groups. Approximately 3.5 million people visited our libraries borrowing 7.7 million items on-site and online. PPLD is a vital force for individual and community transformation because materials and programs are available to everyone without regard to economic status, ethnicity, lifestyle, or religion. Libraries give everyone the opportunity to gain new knowledge for skill sets that barely existed a generation ago.
