Giving Activity

Mission

Hope Gitombo brings the Hope of the Gospel to Gitombo, Kenya, through Christ-centered education and transformational ministries.

Background Statement

What started as a Father's dream to give his beloved village clean, accessible water became a daughter's mission to transform the village of Gitombo-B, Kenya. In 2000, Wanjiru (Wanji) Mukunga traveled to the United States to study at Denver Seminary where she received a Masters in Divinity. Her thoughts traveled back to Gitombo and the idea of "Project Adopt a Village" (PAAV) was born. She envisioned a ministry that did not not just provide clean water but improved the impoverished lives of the majority of people in Gitombo through education.

PAAV became Hope Gitombo and has focused on PAAV-Gitombo Community School. Also, it has embraced the entire community and helps fill their needs. Hope Gitombo empowers and encourages these Kenyans to have better lives and to contribute to their village themselves.
