Services
By offering low-cost, meaningful, and specialized aid that supports healing and nurtures physical and emotional well-being, our services satisfy an essential community need that is otherwise not met. We have 24 counselors available, (two Spanish speaking) so our clients do not have significant wait times to see a therapist and are all trained in grief support counseling. We gear our services toward individuals of all ages:
-
School-based program: We offer counseling for students in grades K-12 from Aspen to Parachute through our school-based programs. Specifically, we work with school counselors and administrators to provide individual and group support for students. Within our school-based programs, we also offer support for staff and families.
-
Adult individual and group counseling: We provide both adult group and individual grief and loss counseling sessions focusing on grief and serious illnesses such as cancer, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and ALS at one of our offices four offices in Aspen, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, and Rifle. Depending on need, we offer our adult support groups throughout the year with varied frequency. We also provide similar services for caregivers and loved ones.
-
Alternative therapy: Our counseling services also include alternative options such as half-day grief retreats, equine therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and grief and loss raft trips. We also provide complementary care options such as massage, acupuncture, and Reiki.
-
Community Offerings: We offer complimentary sessions in breathwork, sound healing, and yoga for any community members in need of healing of mind, body, and spirit.
-
Pathfinders Angels: This is the volunteer arm of the organization that provides weekly meals to clients suffering from serious illnesses.
Testimonials
“Pathfinders, led by Allison Daily and her team of talented individuals, contributes time and energy to address mental health issues for students and staff. While we turn to Allison and her team in times of crisis, Pathfinders also helps teachers to stay grounded and healthy- whether they present a workshop, a quick lesson on coping strategies, or even offering to meet with staff 1:1 for mental health support. Pathfinders is always looking for ways to engage students and staff to foster balance and well-being. This organization is a gift to all of us; whether people are navigating a tragic loss, making sense of a terminal diagnosis, or just needing mental health support, Pathfinders truly makes a difference in the lives of everyone they touch. I do not have adequate words to express my gratitude for all that Pathfinders does for the Aspen High School community, not to mention the entire valley community.” —Sarah Strassburger, Aspen High School Principal
"When I lost my husband to cancer, I had no idea how I would learn to deal with everyday life, much less find the time to grieve and feel the pain. I had two children and wanted to keep it together for them. Our finances were low from all of the medical bills. Pathfinders came in and brought meals, provided cleaning services for a month, and then came to my house to provide counseling to help me and my children learn how to grieve. I felt like I was held up by them during a time when I was so alone. Pathfinders is invaluable on so many levels."
"My husband committed suicide and while I knew he was depressed I had no idea he would kill himself. I fell apart because I missed him and also because he left so much behind that I had no idea how to do. Pathfinders came in to provide volunteer support as I sorted through his belongings and cleared out his office. When I found myself falling apart in the late afternoons, if I picked up the phone, my counselor would talk for as long as I needed. It wasn't like traditional counseling; it was so much more than that."
"I found out I had breast cancer and a good friend immediately told me to contact Pathfinders. My counselor helped me to organize all of the medical procedures coming up, organized for meals to be delivered three times a week while I was having chemo and then radiation, and then connected me with a local grant for cancer patients that helped pay for our rent one month. I felt like Pathfinders was a wealth of information along with also supporting me in my fear and anger at getting breast cancer. I appreciated their "mind, body, spirit" approach to the illness and my healing. The counselor met me where I was at and never judged me."
