Since opening our musical doors in 1997, Peaks to Plains Suzuki Institute has inspired thousands of students, teachers, and families during our one-week program that takes place each summer. Located in Thorton, Colorado and approved by the Suzuki Association of the Americas, PPSI draws violin, viola, cello, flute, and piano musicians of all ages and levels of experience from throughout the United States, with the largest percentage coming from Colorado’s Front Range.
During this week together, approximately 145 participants (ages infant to adult) expand their musical training through master classes, collaborative group instruction, enrichment classes, parent classes, teacher continuing education classes, attending student and faculty performances, and playing their instruments as part of a much larger community. We strive to provide children, caregivers, and teachers opportunities to supplement their music studies by working with world-renowned faculty and each other in a welcoming and encouraging environment.
PPSI shares Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy that “Every Child Can” learn to play an instrument. PPSI is known as much for our warm, nurturing, and inclusive atmosphere as for our sought after artistic faculty and our outstanding student and teacher programming. PPSI strongly believes in equal opportunity for all regardless of race, religion, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, or financial need, and works to create equal opportunity for all.
Through the generosity of donors, we are proud to offer both full and partial student scholarships each year. We strive to offer more assistance as we have seen the need for support substantially increase in our community and our partnerships expand with local youth organizations. Our goal is to welcome anyone who wishes to participate in our programming as we do not want to turn anyone away due to financial barriers.
