All graduating seniors in the Platte Canyon Area may apply for this scholarship; whether traditionally schooled or home-schooled. This fund aids these students with a strong initiative to enhance their futures. Alternative and trade school students are encouraged to apply as well as those attending traditional colleges and universities. Everyone who applies will receive a portion of the monies raised.
Applications will be available in February-March and awarded in June. The monies go directly to the school they choose in August. There are no grade or financial need assessments required although the application must be filled out in full and received on time. The application requires grade transcripts, referrals and 2 essays. Over 30 years ago a student wanted to go to Hair dressing school but had little funds to make her dreams come true. There was one organization in Conifer whom, at that time, didn't extend to Bailey. Several concerned citizens made it their mission is to provide rural students in our area opportunities in trades, alternative professions related to blue collar and non traditional formats as well as traditional colleges and universities without the barriers of grade requirements or financial constraints. Established under the umbrella of the Platte Canyon Area Chamber of Commerce It has thrived over the years and provided many graduates with the tools they need to succeed!
