Libraries serve everyone! Strengthening community through exceptional and inclusive library service

The Poudre Libraries Trust supports the capital project needs of the Poudre Libraries.

During the 2024 Colorado Gives campaign the Trust will be raising funds for TranslateLive ILA devices for all libraries and the outreach bookmobile.

  • More than 10% of households in Fort Collins and the surrounding area speak a language other than English. The most frequently spoken languages in our Library District, after English, are Spanish, Arabic, Korean, and Mandarin Chinese.
  • The Library is actively working to remove language barriers and ensure meaningful language access to library services and resources. Our collection has print and digital materials available in a variety of languages. Many library programs are presented bilingually or include interpretation options. Important library communications are available in both Spanish and English.

But there’s more we can do to serve our community and individuals with limited proficiency or who do not speak English.

  • Exceptional customer service begins with communication. The TranslateLive ILA device is an award-winning, real-time translation tool that will allow library staff to communicate with anyone in any language!
  • A customer simply speaks or types in their native language; the conversation is then instantly transcribed, shown, and voiced to library staff in the language of their choice. The 2-sided smart device offers over 200 languages and dialects and is fully accessible for deaf, hard of hearing, and blind customers (braille display).
  •  An ILA device improves communication and customer service, but it also does so much more. It ensures understanding and participation in library services for everyone while also building trust with culturally-diverse communities!

Invest in your public library and create accessible and inclusive services for everyone.

Background Statement

Poudre Libraries Trust was founded in 1999 by a dedicated group of library supporters. Trust board members, honorary board members and a small group of other private citizens committed start-up funds to establish the Trust.

The Trust has established a fund to ensure that the Poudre Libraries can respond to the increasing demands of an inquisitive, progressive and diverse information society.
