Prairie Protection works hard to educate the public about the keystone role of prairie dogs in the grasslands. We empower concerned residents through guided campaigns on how to save prairie dog colonies, and we work to open up public lands for prairie dog relocations. We have had success in saving thousands of prairie dogs and the communities they support through our work. We also work to save all of the animals and plants who depend on the prairie community for survival. We work to educate Colorado about wildlife policies, the need for reform and public involvement in making lasting change. Our work is made possible by grassroots activists and our financial supporters.

Mission

Prairie Protection(PP) is dedicated to protecting and restoring prairie communities throughout the West. PP will engage in advocacy aimed at protecting prairie habitats and wildlife communities whom are dependent on healthy grasslands.

Background Statement

Prairie Protection started by saving a large colony in Castle Rock from developers in 2015. Since then, we have been working to protect thousands of prairie dogs up and down the front range. Our campaigns involve stopping poisons, habitat destruction, and encouraging the biodiverse landscapes necessary to restore and protect the rapidly diminishing grasslands of Colorado.
