We shape our identity and cultivate healthy behaviors when we’re young. Young people process social-emotional cues and practice interpersonal skills learned at home and school every day. These lessons set us up to become healthy friends, partners, colleagues, and community members. But what happens when young people learn unhealthy behaviors without support to navigate these lessons?
The number of domestic violence fatalities reported in 2022 was at an all-time high in Colorado.
1 in 3 teens experience relationship violence, making it the most frequently experienced form of youth violence.
Individuals who experience physical danger, trauma, and violence in their youth are at a higher risk of mental and physical health issues, homelessness, incarceration, early pregnancy, and are more likely to drop out of school.
The unhealthy coping mechanisms that develop as a result of relationship abuse, such as substance misuse and harm to self and others, negatively impact the overall health and well-being of our schools, neighborhoods, businesses, and communities.
There is a need for improved detection, prevention, and treatment for young people who have been exposed to domestic violence beyond the systems currently in place.
Project PAVE is your healthy relationship partner. We are a trusted partner to young people who are navigating relationships and are impacted by or exposed to relationship violence - providing wraparound support including Education, Therapy, Connection, and Empowerment programming - helping them process emotions, identify harmful behaviors, and address how identity and gender norms impact their relationships.
By working with young people to develop healthy relationships today, we will build a more safe, compassionate, and connected community of friends, neighbors, colleagues, and leaders for the future. But don't just take our word for it...
Please join Project PAVE this Holiday Season in working to end relationship violence in our community. Your gift supports critical school-based therapy and support services for young people who have been impacted by violence as well as anti-violence education, healthy masculinity programming, and youth empowerment programming to prevent violence from permeating our communities.
Building healthy, strong communities takes a village. Thank you for being part of ours.
Project PAVE is ending violence by empowering youth to build healthy relationships.
Established in 1986 in response to a number of violent incidents in the Denver area, community leaders came together to create a framework for intervening early in the lives of youth and families exposed to relationship violence and to promote alternatives to violence in youth relationships. PAVE has a long history of providing innovative, evidence-based, and culturally-responsive services for survivors and their families in our community. It is the promise of our mission that youth who receive services and education are less likely to continue cycles of violence later in life. Each year, PAVE serves over 3,500 children, teens, parents, teachers, and professionals throughout Metro Denver.
