Testimonials

I had the honor of fostering Gus (or as my kiddo called him, Gus Gus). Gus came to RMFBR deaf and with neuro problems, but was without a doubt the SWEETEST dog. Knowing the countless hours Kelly spends to find the right foster for each and every Frenchie she rescues, I was elated when she picked ME! We got almost 2 months with Gus where we spoiled him rotten and drown him in love. His health deteriorated and ultimately crossed the rainbow bridge. If it wasn't for Kelly and RMFBR, Gus may not have known how truly wonderful he was, or what being adored really felt like. I swear Kelly is a saint, and I couldn't think of a more deserving organization to receive generous donations to ensure any Frenchies needing saving CAN be helped by the best! - Heather S

I fostered Buttercup in June 2018. I fell in love with her and so did my dad. I wanted to foster since I lost my previous Frenchie at 10 when I was in the hospital. So, having Buttercup helped me tremendously with walking on my own and during this coronavirus crisis. She has made a huge difference and very thankful to Rocky Mountain French Bulldog Rescue. - Tara A

We foster for Lily pad rescue. And I had seen something on fb for an emergency foster needed for the mighty Calvin so I messaged you filled out the application and became Calvin's foster! Then we also fostered Bug for RMFBR. The best thing we have ever done is foster for RMFBR and foster & adopt from Lpr! We are proud to be a foster for RMFBR or LPR! We ❤️ you and all you do! - Shannon T

When I reached out to the Rocky Mountain French bulldog rescue Kelly, the president, was amazing. She didn't rush to put a dog with our family. We were more than ready to expand our rescue family, but she wanted to make sure that the right dog was placed in the right home. We had to wait several months, but that was OK, to rnsure the fact that we had the perfect dog for our family and we were perfect for him. When the time cane, Kelly wanted us to foster for two weeks to make sure he was a good fit, which is wise, but in this case, was so unnecessary. The moment we laid eyes on our Steve, we knew he was perfect for our family. The opportunity to give a dog a new home that is loving and supportive is so important. Rescuing an animal is one of the best things you can do. People who rescue have the heart for rescue. And Rocky Mountain French bulldog rescue has one big heart. - Gwen D

Mission

Every French Bulldog Deserves a Furever Home!

Background Statement

Again, because of overbreeding and/or irresponsible breeding practices, approximately 25% of

Frenchies will experience some form of paralysis during their lifetime. Although there are a handful of

French bulldog rescues in the United States, only RMFBR is attempting to take-in, rehabilitate, and find

Furever Homes for French bulldogs with severe medical issues. Dogs have been flown and driven across the country in order to be surrendered to RMFBR where the surrendering owner knows they will receive the best medical care and the most scrupulous vetting of a future Furever home.

Additionally, RMFBR has begun to establish relationships with larger breeders whereas these

breeders are now turning over their "stock" and surrendering to RMFBR rather than selling at dog

auctions. The dogs range in age from one year to four years old. Because of this opportunity, RMFBR is

able to save more dogs and retire them faster out of the mills. With this, however, comes more medical

needs especially in spaying, neutering, and microchipping.

RMFBR is also a huge proponent in local education. Having worked with hoarding situations in

Denver, RMFBR has instigated public education services at Denver Animal Shelter, has published

educational material for shelters to distribute, and attends regular events around the state with a booth in order to educate on responsible French bulldog ownership.

Every dog surrendered to a rescue or shelter needs a home. All of these dogs often need extensive medical care before they can be placed into a Furever Home. Dog lovers, responsible breeders, and the care givers of these animals also see this as a problem. Many of these same people are the community stakeholders as well, who would like not only to see these animals adopted into loving homes, but to see programs instituted to educate about responsible breeding practices and what prospective French bulldog owners should be aware of and prepared for if they should decide to get a Frenchie.

Without compassionate shelters and rescues, the preponderance of surrendered Frenchies would

not have access to the medical care they need and without opportunities to find homes they will likely be euthanized.

The current challenges for Rocky Mountain French Bulldog Rescue (RMFBR) are in meeting the additional expenditures which come about because of our developing reputation as an innovator in the rehabilitation of French bulldogs with special needs.

RMFBR accepts donations and grants. Additionally, sources of income are from online item

auctions and an online boutique which has generated an increase in income over the past year in order to meet the increase of veterinarian expenditures. However, RMFBR would like to continue to grow and

increase the ability to save and rehabilitate more dogs as the need continues to increase.
