RE-fined

A nonprofit organization

In 2015, in Lakewood, Colorado, we encountered an unsettling truth: exploitation was not a distant issue but a local crisis.

  • The Denver Commercial Sex Industry brings in about $62 MILLION PER YEAR
  • 12 TO 14 YEARS is the average age of youths entering the sex industry
  • Youths actively experiencing homeless, WITHIN 48 HOURS, will be recruited to the sex industry
  • Those vulnerable to exploitation are NOT categorized by one life situation

Life Situations Targeted by Exploitation

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Often trapped in cycles of abuse, individuals face trauma similar to those exploited, including fear, control, and physical harm.

SEX INDUSTRY WORKERS

People in the sex industry, whether online or offline, can be under someone else’s control and not as free as it might seem.

FOSTER CARE SYSTEM

Children in foster care frequently encounter exploitation, a tragic reality for many.

FAMILIAL TRAFFICKING

Sometimes, the danger is right at home — exploitation comes from within the family or trusted individuals, like parents or coaches.

HOMELESSNESS

Homeless individuals are at high risk of sexual violence, including rape and coerced exchanges for basic needs.

ADDICTION

Addiction and exploitation are interlinked, with substances used as tools of control and as coping mechanisms for trauma.

Recognizing the transformative power of faith, community, and relationships, RE-fined was launched to shine a light, offer a hand, and walk together toward healing and hope.

Our goal is to aim for a brighter tomorrow by creating a future free from exploitation. By nurturing connections that empower, heal, and renew, we believe in the immense impact of faith coupled with community action.

Every discussion, event, and collaboration brings us closer to realizing this vision, and it is through your generosity that these individuals are empowered to move beyond their experiences of exploitation and pave the way for a future filled with hope and healing.

Would you join us in making a tangible difference towards this brighter tomorrow?
