Children need vocabulary and pre-reading skills to become successful readers. The economically disadvantaged family often does not have the role modeling or books available to meet these needs. RAL responds to this by giving books to children through community partnerships and literacy events.
Testimonials
We receive thank you notes from individuals and organizations we partner with to give books to preschool age children. One example from a parent says they took their daughter of 15 months to our Pajama Night at the Loveland Public Library and the book she received has been one of her favorites ever since. At 16 months she was saying words from the book and able to answer questions about the book. Another note from Thompson Valley Preschool thanks us for donations of books to Their Grandma, Grandpa Event where they gave out 40 books. Another from Birthline of Loveland says our mommies and babies appreciate the book every time they read together. Another from Grand Family Coalition says "we had 89 children from Larimer county receive 2 books of their choice, the books are always a big hit with the children."

To promote literacy opportunities and the love of reading in preschoolers and their families for the purpose of future success in school.
Background Statement
Read Aloud Loveland, a non-profit organization founded in 1993 , uses volunteers, organizations and institutions to promote early literacy. For over 25 years RAL has been placing books in the hands of preschoolers and emphasizing the importance of reading to young children. Read Aloud hosts many literacy events and publishes parent information on how to make reading with your child enjoyable.
