$150,000 Goal

At the Rocky Mountain Folk School, we’re dedicated to preserving traditional craftsmanship while fostering a vibrant and inclusive creative community. Nestled in the heart of Grand Lake, Colorado, our mission is to inspire and nurture the next generation of artisans by offering hands-on workshops in timeless crafts, from woodworking and leather smithing to weaving and needlework. Established in 2022, we’ve grown into a hub for creative learning, bringing people together to explore skills that engage the hands, warm the heart, and enrich the mind.

Why We Need Your Support

We’re excited to expand our offerings with a new state-of-the-art creative workshop. This space will allow us to bring in more woodturning workshops, introduce metalsmithing and leatherworking classes (think cowboy boots, saddles, and more), and even craft canoe paddles and paddleboards. These additions will help us preserve traditional trades and empower both hobbyists and aspiring artisans to explore their creative potential.

Your donation will help us purchase specialized tools and equipment, ensure our facilities meet safety standards, and continue our mission of making these timeless crafts accessible to everyone. With your support, we’ll not only provide more workshops but also create a space where creativity thrives and traditions are kept alive for generations to come.

Thank you for helping us inspire creativity and preserve craftsmanship in the Rocky Mountains!

Mission

The Rocky Mountain Folk School inspires creativity, preserves traditional craftsmanship, and nurtures a vibrant community of artisans. Through hands-on learning experiences rooted in timeless skills, we empower individuals to engage their hands, warm their hearts, and enrich their minds. Our mission is to serve as a hub for creative exploration and cultural heritage, fostering a connection between people, craft, and the stunning Rocky Mountain region we call home.

Background Statement

Under the guidance and support of DiAnn Butler, Director Economic Development Grand County Colorado and Ken Fucik, Chairman Grand Lake Creative District, a small group of volunteers has worked to start up the Rocky Mountain Folk School in 2022, to help the community further its creative vibrancy and economic development year-round.

As we are within the Grand Lake Creative District, we have benefitted with a grant for development of a logo, website and non-profit filing status, as well as technical advice. Furthermore, we have been supported by the Town of Grand Lake with a grant for pottery equipment as well as lending the use of the Grand Lake Center for classes.

Rocky Mountain Folk School is a registered nonprofit organization with 501(c)3 status.
