Board members, volunteer Guardians, and participating family Guardians pay a fee to go on a flight. Each flight costs approximately $65,000.  Rocky Mountain Honor Flight is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) public charity per IRC 170(b)(1)(A)(vi)., EIN: 11-3826357.

Testimonials

Every Veteran who has gone on a Flight with the Rocky Mountain Honor Flight finishes the Flight with memorable experiences, very positive interactions of appreciation from people that the Veteran's encounter along the way, i.e. people approach the Veterans to shake their hands, hug them, talk to them, take pictures with them and thank them for their service. Many of the Veterans have never been to Washington, DC and some have never flown on an airplane! The Flights offer the Veterans opportunities to bond with other Veterans, share stories of their time in the service, and make new Veteran friends from around the Rocky Mountain Region. Many Veterans experience hugely emotional feelings when they return to Denver after a Flight and are met by their friends and families. The experience is truly moving!

Mission

The Mission of Rocky Mountain Honor Flight is to provide Military Veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Cold War the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C. and the memorials erected to honor their service to our country.

Background Statement

Rocky Mountain Honor Flight is a Denver, Colorado based non-profit organization formed in 2007. Our goal is to fly every able and willing World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and Cold War Veteran to Washington D.C. to visit "their" memorials. We are a member of the National Honor Flight Network, which began in 2005 and began flying missions with commercial charter aircraft from Dayton, Ohio in 2006. There are now about 125 "hubs", from which flights originate around the country. Veterans must fill out an application form, which can be found on our website. Veterans pay nothing to participate. Trained volunteer Guardians accompany all Veterans on each flight. Volunteers can apply to be a Guardian by filling out an application on our website. Guardians and support personnel pay a fee to go on missions. We have no paid staff. Our volunteers organize the veterans for travel, arrange the travel both to and from Washington, and arrange all transportation, activities, lodging, and meals in Washington. The "mission" is typically 3 days and 2 nights. Memorials and monuments visited include the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Wall, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery (to include the changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns), the Marine Corps War Memorial, and the Air Force Memorial.
